UNK faculty, staff and students participated in the “A Walk in Her Shoes” march Wednesday morning at Cope Fountain to build awareness of gender violence and promote healthy masculinity.
Organized as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the event raised money for the S.A.F.E. Center, which provides free and confidential services for people impacted by dating and domestic violence, human trafficking, sexual assault and stalking. The S.A.F.E. Center also supports awareness and prevention efforts in south-central Nebraska.
Led by grand marshal Ryan Teten, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, the march was sponsored by UNK’s Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion, Gender and Sexuality Resource Office and Fraternity and Sorority Life.
