Mortar Board national honor society at the University of Nebraska at Kearney is accepting applications for membership now through Monday, Jan. 31.
Mortar Board recognizes college seniors for their achievements in scholarship, leadership and service; provides opportunities for continued leadership development; promotes service to colleges and universities; and encourages lifelong contributions to the global community.
Membership applications can be found at any of the following campus locations: Nebraskan Student Union, Calvin T. Ryan Library, Otto Olsen Room 116, West Center Room E104, Memorial Student Affairs Building- Admissions Office, Health and Sports Center- Athletic Office, or online at: http://www.unk.edu/student_org/mort_board/Application/applications.html
Those interested in applying for membership must be enrolled as a full-time student, have a 3.2 cumulative GPA, have a minimum of 88 credit hours completed by May 2005 and graduate no sooner than December 2005.
“I expect quite a few applications for Mortar Board as it is an honor that focuses on scholarship, leadership and service,” said Karri Thunker of Bloomfield. Thunker, a senior, is president of the UNK chapter.
“I’m very excited to have a part in the selection process in order to choose the best and brightest individuals to carry on the wonderful tradition of Mortar Board at UNK,” she said.
