KEARNEY – University of Nebraska at Kearney is leading a May trip to Italy and all are welcome to come along to take in the tastes, aromas, sights and sounds while learning about the history and culture of the country.
Planned and hosted by Magi Travel and led by Chancellor Doug Kristensen and the UNK Alumni Association, the UNK trip will tour numerous places in Italy including the Vatican, Rome, the Chianti Valley – the trip of a lifetime. Dates are May 14-25, 2017, and signup for the guided group tour is needed by Dec. 1 to ensure availability.
Accommodations in four-star hotels include two nights in Alba, one night in Parma, three in Montecatini Terme, one in Orvieto, and three nights in Rome.
Six dinners and a cooking class with the chef of Zeppelin restaurant, tours of wineries and a Parmigiano Reggiano factory, with numerous other tastings of wine, hot chocolate, cheese, balsamic vinegar and other Italian delights earns the trip billing as “Taste of Italy.”
Three days are scheduled in Rome, including a guided tour of Imperial Rome, the Vatican Museums, St. Peter’s Basilica and Sistine Chapel, with time to attend the Pope’s general audience in St. Peter’s Square.
All guides, ground transportation, gratuities and itinerary tours are covered in the cost of the excursion, with optional group air fare from Omaha. Cost of the trip is ,995 plus airfare. The trip is not using any type of state or public funds.
