KEARNEY – The University of Nebraska at Kearney is accepting entries for its 2024 homecoming parade.
Area businesses, nonprofits and marching bands are invited to join UNK student organizations for the event, scheduled for 10 a.m. Oct. 12 in downtown Kearney.
“This year’s theme is Louie’s Harvest Homecoming, focusing on not only nature’s gifts during the fall season but an opportunity for the campus and community to come together,” said Renae Zimmer, director of UNK Student Engagement. “For alumni, the best part of homecoming is not the place but the people we come back to. For the UNK community, it’s where the past meets the present and memories are made.”
To reserve a spot in the parade lineup, visit unk.edu/homecoming and complete the online form before Oct. 2. There is no cost to participate.
Awards are presented to the best marching bands and most creative floats.
The parade route starts at the intersection of 24th Street and Central Avenue and progresses south on Central Avenue, west on Railroad Street, north on Third Avenue, west on 21st Street, south on Eighth Avenue and west on 20th Street before ending at Ninth Avenue near Pioneer Park.
