Kearney High wins UNK Band Day for fourth straight year; Hastings top color guard

Kearney High School won Class AA, was recognized as the outstanding drum line and won the Sweepstakes Trophy given to the top band overall. Saturday’s UNK Band Day Parade showcases 23 schools

KEARNEY – Twenty-three middle and high school marching bands will join the University of Nebraska at Kearney for its 61st annual Band Day Parade. UNK Pride of the Plains Marching Band opens season Sept. 12; Homecoming parade is Oct. 5

KEARNEY – The University of Nebraska at Kearney Pride of the Plains Marching Band has announced its season schedule, which begins with UNK’s Sept. 12 football game against Central Oklahoma. In addition to performing at all Loper home football games, the 83-member band performs in the annual UNK Band Day Parade and Bearcat Marching Festival Sept 21. VIDEO: UNK Pride of the Plains band marches in Ireland St. Patrick’s Day parades

The band also marched Sunday in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the capital city of Dublin, which follows a 1.5-mile route from Parnell Square to St. Patrick’s Cathedral and draws around half a million spectators.
