The University of Nebraska at Kearney opens its fourth season of Mochas and Music Coffeehouse performances with singer/songwriter Shevy Smith on Friday, Oct. 7.
Smith will perform at 7 p.m. in the Nebraskan Student Union Atrium. The performance is free and open to the public.
Born and raised on a Kansas farm, Shevy moved to Nashville at age 18 and signed a publishing deal upon her arrival to Music City. Smith’s style has influences ranging from Tom Petty and Jackson Brown to Sheryl Crow.
“This Kansas native is a must-see with her high energy and imagery-filled lyrics,” said Tim Danube, associate director of the Nebraskan Student Union.
Other performers featured in the Mochas and Music Coffeehouse series this academic year are The Butter and Sugar Show on Friday, Feb. 3, and John Rush on Friday, March 3.
