When incoming freshmen arrive at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, there’s a group of enthusiastic and energetic Lopers ready to welcome them to campus. Eight returning students selected for their academic, communication and leadership abilities are here to help during New Student Enrollment, when freshmen learn more about the university, meet faculty and staff and register for classes.

New Student Enrollment leaders guide campus tours, perform a humorous skit and share their UNK experiences. They’re also answering questions and snapping photos along the way.
“We want students to see what life is like as a Loper and we want them to feel comfortable on campus,” said Brad Green, associate director of undergraduate recruitment and admissions. “We also want their parents and families to feel comfortable dropping their students off in August knowing they will be taken care of at UNK.”
Approximately 900 freshmen, plus their families, will attend New Student Enrollment this summer. Sessions started May 30 and they’ll continue through mid-July.
This year’s New Student Enrollment leaders are Shelby Hoffmann of Aurora, Taylor Janicek of Bridgeport, Pablo Morales of Hastings, Noah Journey of Kearney, Odwuar Quinonez of Lexington, Mary Dworak of Omaha, Jennifer Garcia of Shelton and Valeria Lozano of Spalding.
