UNK-The 1999-2000 Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference was held in Kearney. The Lambda Rho chapter from the University of Nebraska at Kearney was represented with 14 members and two advisors.
The conference events included student competitions in various business subjects like accounting, finance economics, management and marketing. Several events were geared toward skill application including computer applications, word processing and machine transcription. There were speaking competitions, interview events and team projects were judged. Members were given the opportunity to run for state offices and enhance their knowledge with speakers and leadership sessions. In total, 111 students from across the state were in attendance.
The UNK chapter placed first in the Community Service Project and the Local Chapter Annual Business Report. Individual winners in the various competitions during the conference are listed by hometown.

Phi Beta Lambda is the collegiate division of the national organization FBLA-PBL, Inc. The purpose of PBL is to provide business students with leadership opportunities and practical knowledge to use in future careers in the business world.
