WHAT: “Border Talks: Addressing Immigration in the United States”
KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Carlos Barcenas, community organizer for Center for Rural Affairs, will give the presentation “Their Journey, Your Voice, Our Community” at 4 p.m.
PANEL 1: “Past, Present, and Future: Immigrant Influx” will be presented at 2 p.m. by UNK faculty Satoshi Machida, associate professor of political science; William Aviles, professor of political science; and Linda Van Ingen, professor of history and director of Women’s and Gender Studies & Ethnic Studies Program.
PANEL 2: “Our Community: Safety Planning, Raids, Action and Advocacy” will be presented at 3 p.m. by Rosangela Godinez, rural capacity building attorney with Justice for Our Neighbors; and Gladys Godinez, executive director/community organizer with The Trinidad Center.
