The University of Nebraska at Kearney Blue Gold BriGade student organization will be hosting the annual Bike Bowl race April 9. The event is open to any UNK students, as well as community members and UNK alumni.
The 37th annual bike race will be hosted on Saturday, April 9, at the Nebraska Safety Center at 1801 W. Railroad St. in Kearney. There will be two races that morning, beginning with the alumni and community teams at 9 a.m., immediately followed by the UNK students.
The alumni/community teams will consist of four riders and up to two pit crew members, riding 25 miles total. Student teams will have three riders and up to two pit crew members, peddling 15 miles total.
Registration is now open at unkalumni.org/bikebowl.
Early registration cost for alumni/community teams is $40 until March 17. Late registration is $48 and open until March 31.
Student team early registration cost is $30 until March 17. Late registration is $38 and is open until March 31.
Registration fees include a team t-shirt for the riders.
Bikes will be provided for the race, but teams must use their own helmets, which are required for the race.
The first Bike Bowl was held in 1967 and ran until 2000. The event was brought back to campus by the Blue Gold BriGade in 2014.
