Students in Mass Media (SIMM), the mass communication honor society, recently installed new officers at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Newly elected officers include April Refior of Odessa, president; Katrina Campuzano of Elm Creek, vice president; Lindsay Schluntz of Naponee, secretary; and Siobhan Duffy of Omaha, treasurer. In addition, Lisa Elson of Curtis, Eric Korth of Hastings and Jason Gould of Odessa were elected to serve as events coordinators and historians.
New officers are elected for SIMM every semester. Nominations are fielded from members, and those elected must receive a majority of votes.
According to Refior, the purpose of SIMM is to “provide members with opportunities that will prepare them for the career world, build their resumes and give them the opportunity to meet career professionals in their fields.”
To be selected as a member for SIMM, nominees must be full-time students with majors or minors in a mass communication field. Members also must maintain a 3.2 GPA or better.
