High schoolers explore health sciences at UNK summer camp

More than a dozen students from Nebraska high schools participated in the first of five Health Science Explorers Summer Camps today.

Organized by UNK’s Health Sciences Department, the half-day camp allows students to explore a variety of health care careers through hands-on activities. Attendees dissected a cow heart and lung in biology labs, practiced administering IVs, participated in physical and occupational therapy activities and visited the University of Nebraska Medical Center-Kearney to learn about sonography and radiography.

Upcoming camps are scheduled for tomorrow at Community Hospital in McCook, June 25 at UNK, July 16 at Lexington Regional Health Center and July 30 at College Park in Grand Island.
