KEARNEY – This photography exhibit isn’t just a display of art. It’s a platform for meaningful dialogue.
Award-winning photojournalist Héctor Adolfo Quintanar Pérez will visit the University of Nebraska at Kearney next week to meet with students and showcase his latest collection, “All Sunshine Between Shadows.”
Sponsored by the Consulate of Mexico in Omaha, the exhibit shines a light on the Afro-Mexican population while fostering conversation among people from diverse backgrounds and examining themes such as identity, migration and societal change. Through his lens, Quintanar Pérez reveals Mexican culture, landscapes and personal stories that speak to universal human connections.
“All Sunshine Between Shadows” will be on display Nov. 18-22 at UNK’s Calvin T. Ryan Library. A reception and presentation by Quintanar Pérez are scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Nov. 20 at the library. That event is free and open to the public.
Quintanar Pérez will also visit various UNK classes and meet with students, staff and faculty throughout the week.
A photojournalist and archaeologist, Quintanar Pérez covers a wide range of issues, including human rights, culture, natural disasters, conflict and violence. His lens has captured stories across the globe, from Mexico to Ethiopia to Ukraine to India.
His work and publications have been exhibited in more than 15 countries, and he has publications in national and international media such as The Guardian, Washington Post, Al Jazeera, The Times, Chicago Tribune, New York Times, La Jornada and Bloomberg, among others.
