UNK students enjoy spring weather at Holi Festival of Colors

About 40 UNK students celebrated their own version of the Hindu event, the Holi Festival of Colors, Thursday afternoon near the Nebraskan Student Union on campus.

The Global Student Association (GSA) invited UNK community members of all backgrounds to throw colored cornstarch and water in celebration of spring.

Hindus celebrate the colors of spring and the rebirth of life with this bright festival. It is celebrated around the world, and though the origin story of the holiday varies from region to region, Holi everywhere is about love, goodness and welcoming positive energy back into our lives.

The festival is typically held in March, but GSA hosted its event in April when Nebraska temperatures are warmer.
