Kearney State College officially joined the University of Nebraska system on July 1, 1991, when the school’s name changed to the University of Nebraska at Kearney. More than 400 faculty, staff, students and other guests celebrated this historic moment Tuesday during a 30th anniversary event on campus. A picnic lunch was served near Cope Fountain and UNK Chancellor Doug Kristensen and NU President Ted Carter spoke during a program marking the occasion.
