UNK throwing Spring Block Party on Thursday for campus, community

Live music, food trucks, inflatables featured KEARNEY – A new event showcasing food trucks, live music, inflatables and big prize drawings is coming to the University of Nebraska at Kearney this week. The UNK Spring Block Party is from 5 to 11 p.m. Thursday in the middle of campus near Cope Fountain. UNK celebrates 30th anniversary

 Kearney State College officially joined the University of Nebraska system on July 1, 1991, when the school's name changed to the University of Nebraska at Kearney. More than 400 faculty, staff, students and other guests celebrated this historic moment Tuesday during a 30th anniversary event on campus. A picnic lunch was served near Cope Fountain and UNK Chancellor Doug Kristensen and NU President Ted Carter spoke during a program marking the occasion. PHOTO GALLERY: New Cope Fountain adds splash of color to campus

Located between the Nebraskan Student Union and Calvin T. Ryan Library, Cope Fountain is a popular gathering place where students, staff, faculty and visitors can relax on the UNK campus. Dedicated in 1995 in honor of the late Ron and Carol Cope, who were longtime UNK and community supporters, the original fountain was removed and replaced as part of a larger sanitary and storm sewer project. New Cope Fountain should be flowing this fall

New buildings, facility improvements taking shape at UNK

KEARNEY – Construction fence and heavy equipment continues to be a common sight on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus as work progresses on several major projects.
