KEARNEY – The College of Arts and Sciences Service Outreach Committee is again hosting a food drive to benefit UNK’s Big Blue Cupboard and Kearney food pantries.
Beat the Odds Against Hunger is from March 13-19 with donation boxes located across campus at the Health and Sports Center, College of Education building, West Center, Fine Arts Building, Thomas Hall and Calvin T. Ryan Library.
Items needed for the food drive include: rice, pasta, noodles, canned meats such as tuna and chicken, cereal, canned fruit, peanut butter, jelly, microwavable meals, granola and breakfast bars, trail mix, cookies, chips, popcorn, Pop-Tarts, Easy Mac and hygiene products.
A UNK organization that combats student hunger, Big Blue Cupboard provides food and hygiene items to students on campus who are in need. The pantry also serves community members in need.
Last year’s CAS food drive brought in more than $1,000 plus nearly 2,000 pounds of food.
