University Theatre at Kearney opens ‘How I Became a Pirate’ Wednesday

KEARNEY – University Theatre at Kearney presents “How I Became a Pirate” Wednesday through Sunday at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. The musical adventure tells the story of a band of pirates looking for the perfect place to bury their treasure.

When: 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17, 18 and 20 and 2 p.m. Feb. 21

Where: Miriam Drake Theatre

How-I-Became-A-PirateSynopsis: “How I Became a Pirate” is a musical adventure. A band of comical pirates lands at North Beach looking for an expert digger to join their crew. Braid Beard and his mates enlist young Jeremy Jacob as they try to find the perfect spot to bury their treasure. Jeremy finds that adventuring can be lots of fun, but also learns that love and home are treasures you can’t find on any map. The musical is based on the book “How I Became a Pirate” by Melinda Long.

Cost: Tickets are $10 for adults; $8 for non-UNK students, seniors and UNK faculty/staff; $7 per person for groups of 10 or more; $5 for youth (6-12 years) and free for UNK students with a valid ID and youth 5 and under. For tickets, contact the UNK Box Office at 308.865.8417 or boxoffice@unk.edu.
