Phi Beta Lambda Competition at UNK Draws Students from 17 Nebraska High Schools

UNK- Students from 17 Nebraska high schools recently took part in the 23rd annual Phi Beta Lambda Business Competition Day at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

“Business Competition Day is just one of the ways that PBL gives back to the community,” said Dr. Janet Lear, PBL adviser and UNK assistant professor of economics. “It also promotes the importance of business scholarship.”

Phi Beta Lambda is the collegiate division of Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda. The competition took place as part of  FBLA/PBL Week. Membership is open to all students with an interest in the business world. The UNK Lambda Rho Chapter has been active for 44 years.

To commemorate the FBLA/PBL Week and recognize the special work of business instructors at the competing schools, each instructor was given a set of three etiquette bookmarks (e-mail, telephone, and cell phone) as a thank-you gift, Dr. Lear said.

Six places were awarded in each of the 17 categories of the competition, with each first-place winner receiving a medal and a certificate.
