Nebraska State Reading Association (NSRA) will recognize two Nebraska schools at an Awards Celebration during the annual conference on Saturday, February 22 at 12:30 p.m., held at the Ramada Inn in Kearney.
The two finalists recognized for the Nebraska Exemplary Reading Program Award are R. M. Marrs Acadamy of Omaha, Pamela Cohn, Principal, and McDonald Elementary of North Platte, Mary Derby, Principal.
The award, sponsored by the International Reading Association (IRA), recognizes outstanding reading and language arts programs at all grade levels (elementary, middle and high school). The IRA will announce the 2003 winning Nebraska school in March.
NSRA annual conference offers a program designed to foster professional growth and development with a variety of workshops, sessions, featured speakers and exhibits of books, curriculum and assessment materials. Featured speakers for the conference are President of the International Reading Association, Dr. Jerry Johns, and internationally acclaimed author Mem Fox from Australia.
