UNK to hold Annual Handwriting Contest

From March 1 to March 31, the Department of Teacher Education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney will be accepting entries for the 13th Annual Nebraska Handwriting Contest.

The contest is open to all Nebraska residents to promote legible handwriting as an effective means of communication. Tom Hutson of Red Cloud created the Nebraska Handwriting Contest in 1991 in memory of his mother Eva. The contest is endorsed and supported by the Nebraska Department of Education and the Nebraska State Education Association with prizes sponsored by Follet’s Campus Bookstore of Kearney.

Prizes will be awarded in four categories: ages 12 and under, ages 13-16, ages 17-49 and ages 50 and over. First place recipients will receive a $25 gift certificate and second place will receive a $15 gift certificate. Award winners will be announced and posted on the website http://coe.unk.edu/contest by April 30, 2003
