The University of Nebraska at Kearney Reynolds Writers & ReadersSeries presents poets Jim Reese and Steve Langan at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at the Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA).
A writer, photographer and editor, Jim Reese grew up in Omaha. Currently a Ph.D. candidate in creative writing at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, Reese teaches in the English department and works on the editorial staff of the Prairie Schooner. He is also co-editor of the anthology The Great American
Road Show.
In addition, he writes a monthly column for the Lincoln Journal Star called “Nebraska Bookshelf.” He is co-founder of Logan House Press, as well as the imaging editor.
Reese’s works have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies including New York Quarterly, Nebraska Life, Nebraska Territory, Middlewesterner,Morpo Review, Plains Song Review, Platte Valley Review, Poetry Motel andSouth Dakota Review. His most recently released collection of poetry is These Trespasses.
Poet Steve Langan, a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha and the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop, currently resides in Omaha. His debut collection of poetry was titled Freezing.He has since received the Paul Engle Postgraduate Fellowship from the James Michener Foundation. He also received the Weldon Kees Award from the Backwaters Press for his Notes onExile & Other Poems, which has recently been published.
Reynolds Writers and Readers Series presentations are free and open to the public. In addition to Reese and Langan, eight poets have upcoming presentations in the series.
