Mentoring for Success, a new collaborative program between the Kearney Area Business and Professional Women’s organization and the University of Nebraska at Kearney College of Business and Technology, will present its first program Friday, Oct. 21.
The program, titled Tea and Crumpets, will be presented in the Ockinga Seminar Center by the College of Business and Technology. The program will focus on business etiquette, and will provide mentors and students an opportunity to network.
“The program is designed to enhance each student’s educational experience, to encourage business professionals to become involved in shaping future leaders and to strengthen the connection between UNK and the business community,” said Deborah Murray, a lecturer in the College of Business and Technology. The program allows students to meet one-on-one with business leaders who provide encouragement, support and the benefit of their experience.
“Mentoring for Success is not designed to secure internships or employment opportunities,” Murray said, “but to develop relationships and to p rovide professional and personal guidance to undergraduate business women.” The mentors are matched with students who have similar professi onal interests.
