Caryl Churchill’s Cloud Nine, a gender-bending story about sexual identity, will open at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
The comedy will be performed nightly Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 10-12 and Feb. 17-19, in the Studio Theatre located in the Fine Arts Building. There will be a matinee performance at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13.
Approaching issues of family, class, race and gender in a comical theatrical production, Cloud Ninetakes the audience on a tour from 1870’s Africa to 1970’s London. The cast of characters travels across a century, but ages only 25 years.
This production is for mature audiences only, as sexual liaisons and innuendoes are a constant detail of the show, according to Daniel Jones, production director.
