Benefit performances of The Vagina Monologues are being presented at 7:30 p.m. Saturday-Monday, Feb 12-14, in the Nebraskan Student Union Great Room on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus.
The UNK Women’s Studies Advisory Council and Iota Iota Iota women’s honor society are jointly sponsoring the production. Tickets are $3 with a UNK Student ID, $7 for general admission or two for $10.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Kearney S.A.F.E. Center, with a small percentage going to help end violence against girls and women in Iraq.

The monologues are directed by Kimberly Langer of Omaha and produced by Janice Fronczak, UNK assistant professor of theatre. Presenting the introduction, as well as performing monologues, are: Jennifer Hoffmeister of Clay Center; Dr. Beverly Merrick, UNK assistant professor of communications; and Kristin Nielsen of Omaha. Also performing monologues are Kylie Hauschild of Springfield, Mo., Elizabeth Dextator-Morenberg of Chadron and Jaime Watkins of Logan, Iowa.
The university performance is one of many across the nation being performed as part of the V-Day 2005 College Campaign. V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls.
Last year, more than 1,100 communities held V-Day benefits, raising more than $4 million through performances of Eve Ensler’s award winning play. Performances at UNK are coordinated with the V-Day 2005 College Campaign.
