March in New Year’s Day parade. . .in Rome! This is one resolution actually fulfilled, by the marching band of UNK. . . twice! Dr. Neal Schnoor was nothing short of thrilled to escort his students and the UNK Band back to Vatican City for a sequel appearance among the hundreds of thousands of performers and spectators in Rome’s New Year’s Day parade. During the band’s first visit at the beginning of 2006, UNK became the first American band to march in the parade. Now, three years later, it is the first to make a return visit. Their two primary theme songs they perform at this event are Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” and most appropriately, Grand Funk Railroad’s “We’re An American Band.”
