Kim Schipporeit, registrar, 308.865.8527
Kim Schipporeit, director of Student Records and Registration at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, has received the Founders Award for Leadership from the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO).
The Founders Award recognizes vision, leadership and outstanding achievement and influence in the professional field of higher education registrars and admissions officers. Nancy Penna, chair of the AACRAO Awards Committee, told Schipporeit that her “accomplishments have benefited the entire profession.”
UNK Chancellor Doug Kristensen extended his congratulations to Schipporeit and said, “It is an honor for Kim, personally, and for the entire campus as well. We are very thankful to Kim for making a positive difference at UNK and to the entire profession.”
AACRAO is a nonprofit, voluntary, professional association of more than 10,000 higher education admissions and registration professionals who represent approximately 2,500 institutions in more than 30 countries. Its mission is to provide professional development, guidelines and voluntary standards to higher education officials on the best practices in records management, admissions, enrollment management, information technology and student services.
Schipporeit has been the director of UNK’s Student Records and Registration for the past 19 years. She worked in Admissions and Orientation before joining the staff of the Records Office. Her credentials include a bachelor’s degree in French and German, and a master’s in Educational Administration, all from UNK.
The Founders Award is presented to an AACRAO member who has contributed for seven or more years, and has held two or more leadership roles in the association. The award is named in honor of those who had the foresight to meet the needs of the profession by founding AACRAO.
Schipporeit received the award at the opening ceremonies of the AACRAO annual meeting in Orlando last month.
