A series of events on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus this week are taking place in observance of International Education Week.
International Education Week is a joint initiative of the US Department of State and the US Department of Education to recognize the global exchange environment between the United States and other countries. The purpose of International Education Week is to emphasize global understanding and international awareness through a variety of programming.

FACULTY/STAFF DEVELOPMENT TRIP TO CHINA
Earlier this year, UNK entered into a partnership with Hebei Normal University (HNU) in Shijiazhuang, China, a city of 9.6 million people. In June, HNU invited ten faculty/staff from UNK to embark on an educational excursion in Shijiazhuang and Beijing. Dr. Matt Mims (Counseling and School Psychology) will share stories and pictures from the trip. If you have ever thought about exploring the mystic sites of the orient, meeting interesting people, or simply sampling many wonderful foods, bring your lunch and attend this session!

INTERNATIONAL STUDIES FAIR
The International Studies Fair will give UNK students the opportunity to learn how to make internationalization of the curriculum work for them. Students, come and see, learn, and consider your options! Some of the booths you can visit include: Internships for International Studies, Study Abroad, International Businesses, Modern Languages, The Peace Corps, Big Guide to Living and Working Abroad, Rostock Program, Teaching English as a Second Language, ROTC, Model UN, and more! Food will be provided.

INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP PROGRAM
This program, which connects international students to community members for the purpose of friendship, communication and cultural sharing, is invaluable for international students. You are invited to enjoy a panel discussion by UNK international students and community members (including Mayor Stan Clouse) who participate in this program. Hear about the value of this program for students, individuals and families, and learn how you can take part in this wonderful experience! Food will be provided.

STUDY ABROAD FAIR
The Study Abroad Office and the AIS (Ambassadors of International Study) are hosting a Study Abroad Fair. The fair will feature study abroad destinations, highlighted on posters and fliers. Additionally, past study abroad students will be present to talk with interested students and answer questions. This event will be informal and a great opportunity to learn more about the growing number of study abroad opportunities offered at UNK. Free international appetizers will be served.
