UNK-Robert and Karen Duncan of Duncan Aviation in Lincoln have been named as the host couple for the “Spirit of the Great Plains 2000” art sale and exhibition.
“The Duncans have done a lot for the arts statewide and nationally,” said Gail Lowenberg, Museum of Nebraska Art director of development. “We want to recognize them for supporting the arts in Nebraska.”
Recently, the Duncans received a Governor’s Art Award for their contributions to the arts. Family-owned Duncan Aviation has an active art purchasing program, and the firm exhibits works by national, regional and local artists, along with antique aviation posters and artwork by local elementary school students.
On April 8, MONA will host the “Spirit of the Great Plains 2000.” Forty-five nationally known artists from all over the country have been invited to display five pieces of work that will be auctioned off throughout the event.
The event will include a “quick draw” session when artists will complete artwork in one hour. A silent auction and a live auction will give ticket-holders an opportunity to purchase the exhibited art.
