The Calvin T. Ryan Library at the University of Nebraska at Kearney will host an open house Wednesday, April 11, from 2-4 p.m. as a part of National Library Week observance.
At 2:15 p.m., “READ” posters featuring UNK Chancellor Doug Kristensen will be unveiled. The open house and unveiling will take place on the first floor of the Calvin T. Ryan Library.
National Library Week, which runs from April 8-14, was first observed in 1958 by the American Library Association and is celebrated by libraries across the country every April.
“It is a time to celebrate the many contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians, and to promote library use and support,” said Janet Stoeger Wilke, dean of the Calvin T. Ryan Library.
Display boards are also set up on the main floor of the library featuring books that library staff are reading, along with a board for the community and campus to share their favorite books.
“Please come celebrate libraries, and the joys of reading and discovery with us,” Wilke said.
