KEARNEY – There’s a new way to display your Loper pride on your favorite ride.
University of Nebraska at Kearney supporters can sign up now for the Loper spirit license plate, a specialty option available to fans, alumni, students, staff and faculty throughout the state.
Before the plates can hit the road, though, UNK must secure at least 250 prepaid applications, a Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles requirement to begin production. So far, more than 70 people have signed up.
“This is a great opportunity for Lopers across the state to show their school spirit while also supporting UNK student-athletes,” said Athletic Director Marc Bauer said. “The more people who sign up, the closer we get to making these plates a reality and giving our amazing supporters another way to display their school pride every day.”
Proceeds from the specialty plates would provide additional support for UNK student-athletes as they finish their academic journeys, including those who sustain career-ending injuries or exhaust their athletic eligibility while completing their coursework.
To sign up for the Loper license plate, visit www.unk.edu/loper-plates.php. The $40 application fee will be refunded if 250 requests aren’t received.
