Glass artist Minhi England visiting UNK this month

KEARNEY – Seattle-based glass artist Minhi England will visit the University of Nebraska at Kearney to conduct demonstrations for UNK students and the public.

Demonstrations are scheduled for 2-4 p.m. March 11; 5-8 p.m. March 12; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 13; and 2-4 p.m. March 13 in the UNK glass studio, located in Room 306B inside the Fine Arts Building. England will also present a public lecture at 5 p.m. March 11 in the glass studio. All events are free to attend.

England earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Alfred University School of Art and Design, with a focus on glassblowing and metal casting. Since graduating in 2010, she has established herself as a professional glassblower, designer and independent artist across the U.S.

A finalist on Season 3 of the Netflix series “Blown Away,” England has been awarded residencies at the Pilchuck Glass School, Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Washington, and Pittsburgh Glass Center. She recently completed a permanent public artwork at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
