KEARNEY – UNK Athletics will host “Loper Stars” on Aug. 27, a night for individuals with disabilities and their families to enjoy.
“We are excited to start the Loper Stars event, as UNK student-athletes on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee team up with the College of Education Physical Education Majors Club and The Arc of Buffalo County to sponsor a fun and memorable evening at Cope Stadium,” said UNK Athletic Director Marc Bauer. “The Loper Stars event is designed as an inclusive and engaging opportunity for families to interact and spend time with UNK students.”
The free event, open to all ages and abilities, will run from 5-6:30 p.m. at Ron and Carol Cope Stadium on campus. The program will feature sport-specific activities led by Loper student-athletes and coaches and the Physical Education Majors Club, along with performances by the UNK drum line and cheerleading and dance teams. Registration is available here.
“We are looking forward to hosting the Loper Stars event and the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with our community members and agencies, inspiring everyone who’s involved. Together, we shine,” Bauer said.
In addition to The Arc of Buffalo County, UNK Athletics is proud to partner with Kearney Special Olympics, Mosaic, Integrated Life Choices, Hands of Heartland, The Community Supports Network, Goodwill and Mid Nebraska Individual Services.
If there’s inclement weather, the Loper Stars event will be moved to UNK’s Health and Sports Center.
