Victorian Valentine event features romantic music, poetry and high tea at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church

The UNK Department of Music, Theatre and Dance hosted a Victorian Valentine event Sunday at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Kearney, featuring romantic songs and poetry.

Accompanied by collaborative pianist Mirim Kim, UNK music students performed parlor and art songs from the Victorian and Edwardian eras in Britain and the Gilded Age and Progressive Era in America. Theater students performed dramatic readings of American and British poetry from the same periods.

Following the program, guests enjoyed high tea with cakes, scones with clotted cream and homemade jams, finger sandwiches and a variety of teas.
