KEARNEY – The University of Nebraska at Kearney will be closed Monday because of severe winter weather forecasted for central Nebraska.
A winter storm warning has been issued for the Kearney area, where 5 to 10 inches of snow is expected Monday along with winds gusting to near 30 mph. Because of this forecast, UNK officials made the decision to close campus.
This closure impacts all on-site and remote classes. Calvin T. Ryan Library and the LaVonne Kopecky Plambeck Early Childhood Education Center will also be closed.
Essential personnel should report to their supervisor to determine their work status.
Dining services will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. at The Market @ 27th and Louie’s Diner. All retail dining locations will be closed.
Antelope Bookstore will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Facilities will only clear priority sidewalks during the closure.
Any activity or event that is not specifically listed as being open should be considered canceled or postponed.
