KEARNEY – The University of Nebraska at Kearney has selected 10 staff members for its 2018-19 Leadership UNK class. In its 12th year, the program is designed to expose participants to leadership opportunities at UNK and in the Kearney area, enhance their leadership skills and encourage them to accept leadership roles in the future.
Leadership UNK also gives members opportunities to network with the campus community, classmates, speakers and others to discuss issues pertinent to campus and leadership development.
Participants attend nine half-day sessions and one full-day meeting that examine various aspects of leadership at UNK.
Members of the 12th class of Leadership UNK include: Whitney Cave, MBA Program; Brandon Drozd, Health Sciences; Val Glaser, Business Services; Sarah Jones, Health Sciences; Beth Montag, International Education; Lisa Mount, Library; Dylan Munson, eCampus; Mark Omtvedt, Facilities Management and Planning; Caiti Smith, Communication; Rosanna Vail, eCampus.
Last year’s class organized a food drive and donated 644 items to the Big Blue Cupboard, hosted a management and leadership luncheon with a guest speaker and presented the FISH Leadership series. Leadership UNK also provided funds for 10 employees to attend Leadercast 2018 at Central Community College.
“We look forward to setting new goals this upcoming year with the focus to get more involved in our campus community and provide additional professional development opportunities and leadership trainings geared toward employees,” said Aliese Hoffman, a member of the board of graduates.
