16-0959 - First Year Program - BGW LogoKEARNEY – Forecasts for rain and possible severe weather have prompted planners at University of Nebraska at Kearney to relocate several weekend events, including Friday’s Blue Gold Community Showcase and Chancellor’s Picnic.

Both events, scheduled for Friday, Aug. 19, will be moved indoors to the field house inside Cushing Coliseum, part of UNK’s Health and Sports Center. The showcase is 5-7 p.m., with the picnic from 5-6:30 p.m. Setup for the community picnic will follow the same schedule. There may be less access to electricity, so showcase representatives should plan accordingly.

Blue Gold Community Showcase is the annual welcome festival where more than 200 businesses and campus organizations set up booths. Live entertainment, food and product giveaways highlight the showcase.

Students are asked to check schedules with their residence assistants or on unk.edu for any updates.
