Career Days allow students to explore employment opportunities

KEARNEY – Students at the University of Nebraska at Kearney will explore career opportunities during Career Days in February and March.

A series of events including an employer panel, career fairs and networking reception will help students practice networking skills and interact with businesses.

On Monday (Feb. 8) students are invited to Career Fair Edge Employer Panel, which is in the Nebraskan Student Union Cedar Room. To register, students must email their resumes to careerserv@unk.edu with “Career Fair Edge” in the subject line.

Students who attend will get their resumes sent to all career fair employers one week before the fair, exclusive access to the Career Fair Directory that includes employers and positions, entry into a drawing to win Loper apparel and a professional package that includes 10 business cards, a professional headshot and pre-printed name tag with a lanyard. The meeting is from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Career-Fair-2On Feb. 10, juniors and seniors from all majors can attend the College of Business and Technology Networking Reception. Business professional attire is required and students should RSVP to favingerdd@unk.edu.

On Feb. 11, students from Information Networking and Telecommunications, Management Information Systems and all Computer Science and Multimedia majors can attend the Technology Breakfast. The event, which is from 8 to 9:30 a.m., is a networking event that allows students to interact with employers.

The career fair is sponsored by Buckle, GIX Logistics, Eaton Corp., Nelnet and the City of Kearney.

On Feb. 12, Supply Chain Management Career Fair will provide an opportunity for company representatives and students to meet, develop relationships and discuss internships and career opportunities. About 20 businesses will be in attendance. Each company is expected to conduct interviews following the fair.

About 20 businesses will be represented at the Industrial Distribution Career Event from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 17 in the Nebraskan Student Union Ponderosa Room. The event specifically targets industrial distribution students.
