KEARNEY – University of Nebraska at Kearney is working to gear up The Arc of Buffalo County.

During the Friday’s Loper volleyball game against Southwest Baptist, fans are asked to donate Loper apparel as part of the Play it Forward program. The clothing will be donated to The Arc of Buffalo County.

Donation bins are also located in the Nebraskan Student Union this week.

“When we go to Loper athletic events there are always members of the The Arc of Buffalo County there. We want to reward them because they come to a lot of Loper games,” said Landon Killion, Student Government secretary of community relations. “This will allow them to show their Loper pride.”

The Arc of Buffalo County helps children and adults with developmental disabilities. Their adult programs include Buddy Bowling, Arc at the Y and Summer Day Trips. Youth programs include Teens in Action and Respite at KidZone.

Killion, a senior sports management major from York, said many members of The Arc of Buffalo County will be at Friday night’s game.

Last year, through Play it Forward, Student Government donated gently-used sporting equipment to Kearney Special Olympics.

Student Government encourages supporters to use #gearupthearc on social media.
