University Theatre opens ‘The Creation of the World and Other Business’ Wednesday

ML5A9770KEARNEY – The University Theatre at Kearney will present “The Creation of the World and Other Business” Wednesday through Sunday (Oct. 7-11) at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. The humorous and action-packed play is UNK’s student production for the year – directed and designed by members of the theatre honorary, Alpha Psi Omega.

When: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, Oct. 7-10; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11

Where: Studio Theatre in the Fine Arts Building

Synopsis: Writer Arthur Miller divides the play into “three questions for the human dilemma,” beginning with the humorous retelling of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. After their expulsion from paradise, Eve gives birth to Cain, watched over by the scheming Lucifer, who seeks to share the power of God. In the concluding portion of the play, Cain kills his brother, Abel, and is sent out as a wanderer. The play alternates between humor and absorbing confrontations between God and Lucifer.

Cost: Tickets are $10 for adults; $8 for non-UNK students, seniors and UNK faculty/staff; $7 per person for groups of 10 or more; and FREE for UNK students with a valid ID. For tickets, contact the UNK Box Office at 308.865.8417 or boxoffice@unk.edu.
