Trivia contest brings in $2,729 for scholarship in memory of Mary Daake

Mary DaakeThe first Mary Daake Memorial Trivia Contest raised ,729 to establish a scholarship fund honoring the longtime University of Nebraska at Kearney employee.

Seventeen four-person teams from UNK and the Kearney area competed in the Nov. 8 event.

A political science teacher and UNK’s former director of academic advising and career services, Daake died in May after a long illness. She was also director of the World Affairs Conference at UNK.

Intelligent Confusion won first place in the trivia contest. Team members included: Tom Dreher, Taylor Dreher, Shannon Busch and Peggy Mak.

UNK History Department 2 finished second and included: Mark Ellis, Stacey Stubbs, Peter Gough and Steve McGahan.

Third place went to Trivia Newton John, while the fourth-place team was UNK History Department 1.
