Sara McMillan received the State Star Award for Nebraska at the Association of Small Business Development Center’s annual conference Sept. 9 in Grapevine, Texas.
McMillan is a business consultant with the Nebraska Business Development Center at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, with a satellite location in Grand Island.
The State Star Award recognizes McMillan for her efforts to “earn credentials in valuation and exit planning, improve her skills as a consultant, help establish ongoing relationships in Grand Island for NBDC, and for her contributions to multiple business and community groups.”
McMillan joined NBDC as a student assistant at the UNK office in 2009 and began working for NBDC full time following graduation in 2011.
She has completed her Economic Development Finance Professional certification from the National Development Council and obtained the Certified Valuation Analyst, Certified Exit Planning Advisor and Certified Business Planning Advisor credentials in business valuation and business transition planning.
NBDC provides professional consulting services to small businesses in Nebraska.
