Kearney, Neb., April 8, 2013 – The University of Nebraska at Kearney Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will present a concert on April 14. The free, public concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Fine Arts Building.
The UNK Wind Ensemble will feature Michael Crawford of Broken Bow, the winner of this year’s Concerto Competition, as a guest soloist on the first movement of the “Concerto for Bass Tuba,” by Ralph Vaughan Williams. Crawford is a music performance major and a member of the Wind Ensemble.
The Wind Ensemble will also feature guest conductor Aaron Svoboda, who is a former director of bands at Kearney High School.
The UNK Symphonic Band, directed by Brian Alber, and the UNK Wind Ensemble, directed by Duane Bierman, will together perform two movements from Moussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition.”
