Michael Crawford has been named winner of the UNK Concerto/Aria Competition at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

The Broken Bow native will play the first movement of the Tuba Concerto by Ralph Vaughan Williams with the UNK Wind Ensemble in their spring concert this coming April on the campus. The concert is free and open to the public.

Crawford, a tuba performance major, has been a member of the UNK marching band for three years. He performs with the Kearney Symphony Orchestra and is currently the tuba section leader for the UNK Wind Ensemble, which performs several concerts each year. The UNK Wind Ensemble is directed by Dr. Duane Bierman.
