Several groups at the University of Nebraska at Kearney have collaborated to bring the improv comedy performance The Second City: Laughing Matters to campus on Friday, Nov. 30.

The event will begin at 9 p.m. in the Nebraskan Student Union Ponderosa Room. Tickets for The Second City are free for UNK students and $5 for community members, and can be purchased at the Nebraskan Student Union Welcome Desk.

The Second City celebrates over 50 years as a comedy club, theatre, and school of improvisation with theatres and training centers in Chicago, Hollywood and Toronto. In all, The Second City has 11 full-time touring ensembles.

“The Second City will be bringing seven improv comedians to UNK, and it is sure to be an awesome event,” said Heather Wolf, assistant director of the Nebraskan Student Union. “We wanted to do something different from what we have been doing in the past and chose The Second City, because it is the most popular improv group that there is.”

The Second City has produced much of the comic talent in the industry, including Mike Meyers, Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Steve Carell.

According to Wolf, the event is sponsored by the Loper Nights fund, Loper Programming Activities Committee (LPAC), Residence Hall Association, Greek Life and the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
