SCHNOOR NAMED SENIOR ADVISOR TO THE CHANCELLOR FOR EXECUTIVE AFFAIRS

University of Nebraska at Kearney Chancellor Doug Kristensen today announced the appointment of Dr. Neal Schnoor to the position of senior advisor to the chancellor for executive affairs.

Most recently, Dr. Schnoor served as dean and chief academic officer for the School of Education and Counseling at Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb. His responsibilities included the supervision and management of academic programs, facilities and budgets within the school, as well as service on the President’s Cabinet, Deans’ Council, and involvement in strategic planning/development and allocation of resources. Before joining the Wayne State campus, Dr. Schnoor was an associate professor in the UNK Departments of Teacher Education and Music & Performing Arts (joint appointment) and director of UNK Bands. His previous experience also includes teaching at the high school level.

“His experience and level of responsibilities have provided him with a particularly well-developed understanding of higher education in Nebraska, the State College system and the University of Nebraska,” said Chancellor Kristensen. “I am happy to re-welcome him to UNK.”

Dr. Schnoor holds Doctorate of Philosophy and Master of Music degrees from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Education from Wayne State.
He fills a position formerly held by Dr. John Oseth.
