“Up ‘til Dawn,” hosted at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, has raised $44,960 on behalf of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

More than 16,000 letters were sent out last November by more than 500 students. To participate, students signed up in teams to compete in the all-night challenge. The top prize for the student who addressed and sent out the most envelopes was an iPad. The theme for the fourth annual event was the 1970s-inspired “Stayin’ Alive so kids can too.”

The board members who organized the “Up ‘til Dawn” event were Kara Crawford of North Platte, executive director, and Natalie Regenos of Kearney, assistant director.

New board members were also announced for the 2012 “Up ‘til Dawn” event. Jordan Moncrief of Kearney was selected as executive director, and Kendra Wurdeman of St. Edward was selected as assistant director.
