FORENSICS TEAM PLACES THIRD IN NEBRASKA COMPETITION

The Forensics Team at the University of Nebraska at Kearney has placed third in the Overall Team Sweepstakes Division at the Nebraska Intercollegiate Forensics Association State Championships held recently on the UNK campus.

Teams with the highest number of combined points in individual speaking events and parliamentary debate are awarded the Overall Team Sweepstakes.

According to Rachelle Kamrath, UNK forensics coach, the most notable UNK accomplishments include Brooke Alstrom of Bassett, who claimed the State Championship in Communication Analysis, and Robert Friedman of Plattsmouth, who placed second in Parliamentary Debate.

Colleges and universities from across the state participated in the Nebraska Intercollegiate Forensics Team state championship. Participating campuses include: College of St. Mary, Concordia University, Creighton University, Doane College, Hastings College, UNK, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

After the regular season ends March 10, the UNK Forensics team will compete next at the 2012 American Forensics Association National Individual Events Tournament, April 7-9, at Texas State University in San Marcos.

In all, eight members of the UNK Forensics team participated in the state championships. The students are listed below, alphabetically by hometown:
