MORE THAN 130 COMPANY REPRESENTATIVES ON UNK CAMPUS THIS WEEK FOR INDUSTRIAL DISTRIBUTION FALL CAREER EVENT

More than 130 company representatives from 33 companies are on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus this week for the Industrial Distribution Program fall career event.

On Thursday, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. until noon in the Nebraskan Student Union Ponderosa Room, has been set aside for seniors seeking employment and others wanting to secure summer internships for 2012. The fall career event is a three-day program.

“The attending companies provide internships as well as full-time employment for UNK industrial distribution students,” Benson said.

Of the more than 130 company representatives, 38 are graduates of the UNK ID program, according to Greg Benson, UNK industrial distribution coordinator. Established in 1987, the UNK program has been recognized as one of the top leading technical sales programs in the nation.

UNK industrial distribution graduates are sought after for positions as technical sales representatives and operations professionals. Among areas where graduates most often find placement as sales representatives are: machine tool sales, safety equipment sales, power tool sales, fastener sales, electronic sales, air handling sales and mechanical sales. Many also are employed as account managers and in purchasing.

Of the companies attending, 11 are ID program partners. Through the partnership program, a number of companies contribute an annual fee to create better services for students and to assist the in building the program. ID program partners include:
ABC Supply, Actuant, Consolidated Electrical Distributors, Crescent Electric Supply, Eaton Corporation, Fastenal Company, G.L. Huyett, IBT Inc., Nebraska Machinery Company, WinWholesale and Womack Machine Supply.

Other companies participating in the event include: Altec Industries, Applied Industrial Technologies, Beacon Roofing, Crum Electric Supply, DGI Supply, DXP Enterprises, Inc., Electrical Engineering & Equipment, Ferguson, a Wolseley Company, General Electric Company, Graybar Electric Company, JCI Industrial, Kriz-Davis Company, Lozier Corporation, Merchants Metals, Molex (an endowed scholarship provider), PACCAR Parts, Pool Corporation, Rexel Holdings USA, Summit Electric Supply, SRS Acquisition Corporation, Twin City Fan Companies Ltd. and Veyance Technologies, Inc.
