NEWS CONFERENCE:

Dedication ceremonies for the newly installed wind turbine at the University of Nebraska at Kearney will take place
at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, at the Nebraska Safety Center Driving Range.

The wind turbine is a gift from Nikko, a Tokyo-based company. The wind turbine will be used as an educational tool for physics classes. The turbine has software which will collect data on wind speeds and energy generation. The data will be provided to Nikko and will be collected for use with UNK student research projects.

Speakers, listed in order of their presentation, will include:

Charles Bicak, senior vice chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs
Douglas Kristensen, chancellor
Shungo Saito (pronounced Shun’-go  Say-aw’-toe), senior sales manager, North America
Richard Baier, director, Nebraska Department of Economic Development.
Dave Dingman, director, Nebraska Energy Office
